Hawks Knock Off Emory On The Road
ATLANTA, Ga.- Still rolling after their perfect 3-0 opening weekend at home in the Firehouse Classic, Huntingdon Baseball hit the road and defeated the Eagles of Emory University 13-6 in a come-from-behind victory.
At home for their first game of the season, Emory struck first, putting up all six of their runs in the first two innings to take control early on. Not to be outdone however, the Hawks answered the call with a seven run fourth inning that put Huntingdon ahead approaching the midway point of the contest. A Eagles fielding error kicked off the scoring for the Hawks, with Brodie Holcomb and Ty Pruitt making the most of the mistake for the first two runs of the frame. Byron McLain, Brent Cadenhead, Ben Mosely, and Blayne McDaniel each followed with RBI's, scoring Jabez Sampson, Sam Kelley, and Jay Davidson among others as the Hawks claimed a 7-6 lead.
The bats remained hot in the fifth inning, as McLain drove home Kelley to bring the score to 8-6 before another Emory error allowed for Sampson to cross home plate and extend the lead to 9-6. After a quiet 6th and 7th innings, the Hawks resumed the scoring in the 8th, as Holcomb and Kelley each drove home runners to up the lead to 11-6 before the upperclassmen duo repeated the action in the 9th, bringing the final score to 13-6.

Through five innings, Johnson surrendered just 4 hits, striking out 4 Eagles as Huntingdon took control of the contest.
