Hawks Drop Final Regular Season Series At Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga.- Closing out the regular season this afternoon in a double-header to decide the series against Piedmont, Huntingdon Baseball couldn't hit their stride, dropping the first game 7-2 before suffering a 10-0 loss in the second game.

Game One

The Hawks struck first in the opening inning, capitalizing on a Piedmont error to plate two unearned runs. Sam Kelley drove in the first with a groundout, and Jabez Sampson followed with an RBI single to make it 2-0.

Piedmont chipped away with single runs in the second and third to even the score, then broke things open late. A two-run single in the seventh gave the hosts their first lead, and a four-run eighth inning put the game out of reach.

Huntingdon outhit Piedmont 10-11 but stranded 13 runners and couldn't capitalize beyond the first inning. Sampson led the way with two hits and an RBI, while Blayne McDaniel, Mikael Bryant, and Brent Cadenhead each added multi-hit efforts.

On the mound, Charlie Morgan took the loss after allowing three runs (two earned) over five innings in relief. The Hawks' bullpen struggled late, issuing five walks as Piedmont pulled away.

Game Two

Piedmont set the tone early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding another in the second to quickly build a 5-0 lead. The hosts broke things open in the fourth with four more runs, highlighted by a two-run single, before tacking on their final run in the fifth.

The Hawks were limited offensively, managing six hits in the loss. Drew Jolley led the way with a pair of hits, while Blayne McDaniel, Brodie Holcomb, Jabez Sampson, and Ben Mosely each recorded one.

On the mound, Jacob McFarling took the loss after allowing four runs in the opening inning. Huntingdon used four pitchers in the contest, surrendering 10 runs on 13 hits.
