GREENSBORO, NC.- Looking to bounce back from their loss at home to Southern Virginia a week ago, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse couldn't find their footing today against the hot-shooting Pride of Greensboro College, falling 18-6 on the road.
Greensboro controlled the opening half, scoring the game's first 13 goals and taking a commanding 13-1 lead into halftime. A six-goal first quarter set the tone, followed by a seven-goal second period that put Huntingdon in a deep hole.
The Hawks showed life after the break, outscoring Greensboro 4-2 over a stretch in the third quarter behind a strong man-up unit. Jaxon McMonigle led the offense with a hat trick, while Connor Angst added two goals and two assists. Kelcey Marston contributed a goal and two assists as Huntingdon capitalized on three extra-man opportunities.
Despite the second-half push, Greensboro answered late to halt any momentum and secure the 18-6 final. Huntingdon finished with a 34-22 edge in shots on goal and held a slight advantage in ground balls (37-35), but struggled at the faceoff X and with turnovers, which proved costly.
In goal, Nathan Brezovec recorded 10 saves in relief, while Ethan Schellenberger took the loss.
The Hawks will look to bounce back tomorrow, Sunday March 29th, at Warren Wilson. Gametime is set for 11:00 AM CT.
