Men's Lacrosse Falls To Piedmont In First Round Of USA South Tournament

DEMOREST, Ga.- Entering as the #6 seed in the USA South Tournament, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse battled, but fell just short on the road at the #3 seed, Piedmont, 17-11.

Piedmont seized control early, scoring eight times in the opening period to build an 8-2 advantage. Connor Angst and Hunter Rives each found the net in the first, but Huntingdon struggled to slow Piedmont's attack, which was paced by multiple first-quarter goals.

The Hawks began to settle in after the break, with Jaxon McMonigle sparking the offense. He finished with a team-high four goals and an assist, helping Huntingdon chip away at the deficit. Goals from Angst and Tristan Dial in the third quarter kept things within reach at 10-6, but Piedmont answered with a late third-quarter run to extend the lead back to eight.

Huntingdon made one final push in the fourth, highlighted by man-up goals from Devin Reeves and JT Klam, going a perfect 3-for-3 on extra-man opportunities in the period. However, the early gap remained the difference as Piedmont matched each surge.

Reeves added two goals, while Angst contributed two goals and an assist. Kelcey Marston led the team with three assists, and Huntingdon edged Piedmont in ground balls (37-36), but faceoffs (12-30) and the first-quarter deficit proved costly.

In goal, Ethan Schellenberger and Nathan Brezovec combined for 15 saves as the Hawks wrapped up their season with the quarterfinal defeat.

This loss has brought the Hawks 2026 season to an end. Stay tuned for news to come of their 2027 season.
