Hawks Battle With Berry Ends In A Draw

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- In their final non-conference matchup of the 2024 season, Huntingdon men's soccer(3-6-1 overall, 0-2 CCS) battled with the Vikings of Berry College(4-3-5 overall, 0-0-2 SAA) until the final minute, ending in a 1-1 draw.

How it happened

As the game got underway, the Vikings were the aggressors, taking 6 shots in the first 10 minutes. In spite of the aggressive start, Huntingdon's defense remained strong, with Lundon Danford anchoring the goal and holding Berry scoreless. The first goal of the game belonged to the Hawks on their very first shot of the game, with Tate Reynolds sliding one past the Berry keeper to put Huntingdon ahead 1-0 16 minutes in. Over the course of the next 23 minutes, neither offense could find the net until the Vikings capitalized inside the last 10 minutes of the half to bring the halftime score to 1-1.

In the second half, both teams ramped up the defensive intensity, forcing both offenses into difficult shots. With Braden Ross checking in as the Hawks' keeper, he recorded 3 saves, with Berry's keeper recording one, to keep the score even throughout the rest of the match, resulting in a 1-1 draw.
