Gilroy Stars As Huntingdon Takes On The UWA Invitational

LIVINGSTON, Ala.- Following up on their season-opening meet at Mississippi College, Huntingdon track and field traveled westward to compete in the inaugural UWA Invitational, hosted by Division II West Alabama.

Former CCS rookie of the year Rory Gilroy headlined Huntingdon's strong performances across the afternoon, finishing third place in both the 110m and 400m hurdles. The men's team also saw a fourth place finish from Jimmy Woods in the 100m dash, with Marcus Malone, Will Shirley, Grayson Ryland, Wes Estes, Mackenzy Crawford, and Gavin McAbee each making appearances within the top 10 of their respective events.

As for the women's team, the Hawks also saw a plethora of top 10 finishes, with Kate Smith's, Aleah Vess' and Trinity Treadway's fifth place finishes leading the way. Michaela Moore also found her way within the top 10.

All three relay teams combined between the men and women finished top 10 as well.

Men's 100m

  • Jimmy Woods finished 4th overall with a time of 10.96 seconds
  • Grayson York finished 13th overall with a time of 11.26 seconds
  • Wes Estes finished 29th overall with a time of 12.23 seconds

Women's 100m

  • Nariah Travis finished 13th overall with a time of 13.47 seconds

Men's 110m Hurdles

  • Rory Gilroy finished 3rd overall with a time of 15.18 seconds

  • Nariah Travis finished 12th overall with a time of 27.53 seconds

Men's 400m

  • Rory Gilroy finished 3rd overall with a time of 57.12 seconds

  • Wes Estes finished 9th overall with a time of 2:12.39
  • Blake Bailey finished 13th overall with a time of 2:17.52
  • Dalan Bunn finished 14th overall with a time of 2:21.58

Women's 800m

  • Kate Smith finished 5th overall with a time of 2:34.92
  • Michaela Moore finished 9th overall with a time of 2:43.36
  • Evie Garrett finished 10th overall with a time of 3:00.74
  • Sydney Thompson finished 12th overall with a time of 3:21.39

Men's 1500m

  • Dalan Bunn finished 20th overall with a time of 4:30
  • Blake Bailey finished 23rd overall with a time of 4:45.62

Women's 1500m

  • Michaela Moore finished 10th overall with a time of 5:23.88
  • Kate Smith finished 13th overall with a time of 5:32.25
  • Evie Garrett finished 16th overall with a time of 6:24.33
  • Sydney Thompson finished 17th overall with a time of 6:59.10

Men's Discus

  • Will Shirley finished 11th overall with a mark of 30.93 meters

Women's Discus

  • Trinity Treadway finished 7th overall with a mark of 27.84 meters

  • Will Shirley finished 6th overall with a mark of 38.31 meters

Women's Hammer Throw

  • Trinity Treadway finished 7th overall with a mark of 29.24 meters

  • Aleah Vess finished 5th overall with a mark of 1.35 meters

  • Gilroy, Estes, Crawford, and McAbee finished 4th overall in the 4x400m relay
  • Smith, Travis, Moore, and Farmer finished 2nd in the 4x400m relay.

The Hawks return to action next week at the Montevallo Falcon Classic. Events are set to start on March 14th and roll over into the 15th.
