Shirley And Woods Bring Home Weekly CCS Awards

 
ATLANTA, Ga.-  The Collegiate Conference of the South (CCS) has announced its men's track and field weekly honors, released by the league office on Tuesday.
 
Huntingdon saw two athletes recognized, as Will Shirley was dubbed the conference's Field Athlete of the Week, with Jimmy Woods bringing home the Track Rookie of the Week award.
 
Shirley showcased his versatility in the throws at the Montevallo Falcon Classic, placing in the top 20 in all three events. He secured eighth place in the shot put with a mark of 12.98 meters, finished 17th in the discus with a throw of 36.08 meters, and claimed ninth in the javelin with a mark of 46.16 meters.
 
Woods led Huntingdon's sprint squad at the Montevallo Falcon Classic, finishing 21st in the 100m dash with a time of 11.13 and 38th in the 200m dash with a time of 23.54. He also contributed to the Hawks' 4x100m relay team, which placed ninth with a time of 43.87 seconds.
 
Shirley, Woods, and the Hawks look to keep rolling on March 22nd, traveling to take on the Belhaven Invitational.
