Women's Lacrosse Drops Overtime Battle To Spalding

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Closing out their four-game home stretch to open the season tonight, Huntingdon Women's Lacrosse fell to the Eagles of Spalding University 12-11 in an overtime thriller. 

The Hawks erased a 7–4 halftime deficit and tied the game at 7–7 in the third quarter before building an 11–10 lead with 29 seconds left on Reagan Barrett's goal. Spalding answered with three seconds remaining in regulation to force overtime, then capitalized in the extra period.

Kate Hudson paced Huntingdon with four goals and three assists, adding four draw controls and four ground balls. Barrett finished with three goals and an assist while putting eight shots on goal. Amara Veng added two goals and an assist, and Molly Turnan scored twice, including a key fourth-quarter goal that gave the Hawks the lead.

Defensively, Huntingdon matched Spalding with 20 ground balls and received 14 saves from Kendall Hallas in goal. The Hawks converted all three of their free-position attempts and went 12-for-15 on clears in the narrow setback. 

The Hawks will look to bounce back on Saturday, March 7th on the road as they face off with Pfeiffer University to kick off USA South play. Gametime is set for 10:00 AM CT.
