Women's Lacrosse Taken Down At Pfeiffer
MISENHEIMER, NC.- Opening conference play with a road trip to Pfeiffer, Huntingdon Women's Lacrosse couldn't get going, falling 20-7 to the host Falcons.
Reagan Barrett paced the Hawks offensively with two goals and an assist, while Payton Hill recorded a hat trick on five shots. Molly Turnan added two goals and two assists, and Kate Hudson contributed an assist and a team-high four ground balls.
Huntingdon struck early when Barrett finished a feed from Turnan to tie the game at 1-1 midway through the first quarter. Pfeiffer responded with a 10-0 run spanning the remainder of the opening frame and much of the second quarter to build an 11-1 halftime advantage.
The Hawks found some momentum in the third quarter as Hill scored twice and added a man-up goal to trim the deficit, with Turnan and Hudson assisting on the first two tallies. Huntingdon continued to push in the fourth quarter with goals from Barrett and Turnan, including a man-up strike assisted by Barrett, but Pfeiffer maintained control down the stretch.
Defensively, Kendall Hallas made 13 saves in goal while the Hawks totaled 13 ground balls and converted 10 of 12 clear attempts.
The Hawks will look to bounce back at home on Wednesday, March 11th against Piedmont. Gametime is set for 6:00 PM CT.
