Women's Lacrosse Lights It Up Against NC Wesleyan
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Claiming their second straight conference win, Huntingdon Women's Lacrosse led from end-to-end in what proved to be a blowout win over the Battling Bishops of North Carolina Wesleyan University.
The Hawks set the tone early, scoring four first-quarter goals and never looking back. That momentum carried into the second period, where Huntingdon erupted for eight goals to take a commanding 12-0 lead into halftime.
A trio of standouts powered the offense, as Kate Hudson, Reagan Barrett, and Molly Turnan each recorded five goals. Hudson added an assist, while Barrett (5G, 3A) and Turnan (5G, 2A) led a fluid attack that produced 11 assists on 21 goals. Payton Hill also turned in a strong all-around performance with four goals and three assists.
Huntingdon continued to pour it on in the second half, stretching the lead to 17-0 before N.C. Wesleyan broke through for its lone goal late in the third. The Hawks responded with four more goals across the final quarter to secure the 20-goal win.
Defensively, Huntingdon controlled possession throughout, winning the ground ball battle 39-9 and forcing 24 turnovers while allowing just five total shots. Goalkeepers Kendall Hallas and Sydney Mikula combined to allow just one goal, with Hallas earning the win after a scoreless first half.
The Hawks will look to keep rolling at home on April 3rd against Greensboro. Gametime is set for 12:00 PM CT.
