Andrews And Sousa Headline Huntingdon Wrestling's Academic All-American Success
Manheim, PA - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) proudly announces the 2024 NCAA Division III Team Scholar All-America Awards.
Huntingdon men's wrestling program finished with the 18th highest GPA in Division III, boasting a team-wide average of 3.581. In order to qualify for team all-american awards, programs must have 10 eligible wrestlers on their roster, but the average is calculated by the averages of those who competed at the regional tournament and two alternates.
Finishing 18th in the nation, the Hawks ranked first in Grade Point Average in all of Region VI. Their selection inside the top 25 in Division III marks the second time the program has done so in the last three seasons, as the Hawks compiled a 3.545 GPA in the 2021-2022 season.
Leading the charge in the classroom for Huntingdon was the sophomore/junior duo of Hudson Andrews and Cade Sousa. The two Hawks were recognized as academic all-americans, with this being Sousa's second time receiving the award. In order to be eligible for academic all-american status, individuals must either place top 8 in the region(which both Andrews and Sousa did), or wrestle at least 15 matches and hold a winning percentage of 66%. Individuals must also have an average GPA of 3.2 over the last 2 semesters or quarters or last 3 trimesters and maintain a cumulative average of 3.2.
