Women's Tennis Comes Up Short In Conference-Opening Loss To Asbury
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Looking to extend their winning streak to three matches, Huntingdon Women's Tennis welcomed the Eagles of Asbury University to campus, falling 5-2 to the defending conference champions at home on Friday.
The freshman duo of Katie Madden and Anna Beth Adams led the way for the Hawks, each securing a win in their singles matches, while Adams paired with Dalyce Sanders for a win at #3 doubles as well. See below for the comprehensive doubles and singles results.
Doubles
- Katie-John Crow and Lilly Brown were defeated by Katherine Nova and Alexandra Gasca 6-1
- Athens DeVer and Ansley Lanier were defeated by Malory Watkins and Ariadna ZeGarra 6-2
- Anna Beth Adams and Dalyce Sanders defeated Cara Clark and Isabella Sanchez 7-5
Singles
- Katie-John Crow was defeated by Katherine Nova 6-0 in each set
- Dalyce Sanders was defeated by Ariadna ZeGarra 6-1 in each set
- Ansley Lanier was defeated by Alexandra Gasca 6-4 and 6-0
- Anna Beth Adams defeated Malory Watkins 2-5(match was retired)
- Athens Dever was defeated by Isabella Sanchez in three sets, falling in the first 6-1, but recovering for a 6-4 second set win. She was taken down 10-3 in the third set
- Katie Madden defeated MaryAlice McVey in three sets, dropping the first 7-6(7-5 tiebreaker) before winning the second 6-2. She closed the match with a 10-8 third set win
The Hawks will return to action at home tomorrow, March 7th against Maryville. Matches are set to begin at 12:00 PM CT.
