Hawks Cross Country Makes 2025 Season Debut At The JSU Foothills Invitational

OXFORD, Ala.- Taking a trip North for their season-opener, Huntingdon Cross Country made their 2025 debut on the course at the Foothills Invitational, hosted by Division I Jacksonville State University at Choccolocco Park.

The men's team, featuring Levi Garrett as the squad's lone returner from a year ago, did not qualify for a team score. Freshman Hayes Brockett led the way for the Hawks, finishing the 5000m race with a time of 20:23.24. Jameson Jessup crossed the line next with a time of 22:48.51 with Garrett and John Quarles Jr. rounding things out. As the host team, JSU walked away victorious, scoring 46 points to narrowly defeat the Tigers of Auburn University. 

As for the women, the Hawks finished 19th in a field of 21 teams, averaging a time of 26:26 for the 5000m race. Michaela Moore finished first for Huntingdon and 82nd overall with a time of 21:16.59. Junior College transfer Hadyn Owens came across the line next with a time of 25:28.38, with Evie Garrett finishing just after in 26:28.93. Arianna Morning and Sydney Thompson were the final two scorers for the Hawks, finishing the race in 29:22:02 and 29:33.97, respectively.  Auburn University ultimately walked away with the team victory, scoring 35 points en route to their win.

The Hawks return to action on Friday, September 12th at the Montevallo Falcon Classic.
