Hawks Walk It Off In Double Overtime Against Point
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Huntingdon Flag Football pulled off a dramatic 19-13 double-overtime victory over Point University Saturday, downing the 3-1 Skyhawks for the first time in program history.
Huntingdon struck early, scoring on a quick two-play, 39-yard drive in the first quarter, then added a second touchdown before halftime to take a 12-0 lead. Point University battled back in the fourth, scoring twice to tie the game at 13 and force overtime.
In the second overtime, Huntingdon delivered the game-winning touchdown, as Kennedi Young found Kylah Rome from one yard out to complete ice things away. Young passed for 243 yards and three touchdowns, connecting with Shalimar St. Juste, De'Aysia Williams, and Rome for scores. Rome also added 42 yards receiving and a touchdown, while Ashley Sajous contributed with two key punts averaging 33 yards and 7 tackles.
Defensively, Huntingdon held strong in overtime, with Sincere Johns recording two sacks for 14 yards and four total tackles for loss. The Hawks' secondary contributed four interceptions, including plays by Hiryaunna Mays, Jazlyn Jones, and Shalimar St. Juste that helped swing momentum.
Improving to 5-2 on the season, Hawks Flag Football heads to Cumberland University tomorrow, March 7th, for a double header with the Phoenix and King University. Games are set for 2:00 and 3:30 PM CT.
