Alabama Power Huntingdon Student Athlete Of The Week: Kennedi Young
MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Leading the Hawks to an undefeated record last week with wins over Point University(in double overtime), Cumberland, and King, Flag Football's Kennedi Young as been recognized as the Alabama Power Huntingdon Student Athlete of the Week.
Native to Marietta, Georgia, and a graduate of Marietta HS, the right-handed gunslinger was electric all week, guiding the Hawks to their 3-0 record from under center. Through the weekend stretch, Young passed for 639 yards total, adding on 8 touchdowns and just 4 interceptions. She tacked on 58 yards on the ground as well.
To kick off the week, Young completed 26 of her 43 passing attempts against Point, connecting with De'Aysia Williams, Shalimar St. Juste, and Kylah Rome for three passing touchdowns. Her clutch decision-makinng was apparent down the stretch of the double overtime contest, as her connection with Rome proved to be the game-winning score.
Kennedi followed up with an excellent performance in the first of the Hawks two games on Saturday, passing for 200 yards and a touchdown in Huntingdon's 7-6 win over Cumberland. In the tri-match finale, Young caught fire, going 17-29 on pass attempts for 207 yards and a staggering 5 touchdowns in Huntingdon's 39-6 victory over Division II King.
Young and the Hawks return to action at Samford Stadium on Sunday, March 15th as they welcome Hendrix and Alabama State for a tri-match. Games are set for 12:30 and 2:30 PM CT.
