Hawks Fall In Conference Opener At Pfeiffer

MONTGOMERY, Ala.- Kicking off USA South Conference play on the road, Huntingdon Men's Lacrosse was taken down by the projected conference champion, Pfeiffer University, falling to the Falcons 26-8. 

Pfeiffer jumped out to an early lead with four goals in the opening five minutes before Huntingdon got on the board midway through the first quarter on an unassisted goal from Jaxon McMonigleLanden Nary added a late tally in the period as the Falcons held a 7-2 advantage after one.

The Hawks cut into the deficit early in the second quarter when Kelcey Marston scored on a man-up opportunity, but Pfeiffer answered with four straight goals to take an 11-3 lead into halftime.

McMonigle recorded his second and third goals in the third quarter to complete a hat trick, while Marston added another man-up score as Huntingdon trailed 16-6 entering the final period.

Pfeiffer extended its lead in the fourth before the Hawks closed the game with goals from Jacob Green and Nary.

McMonigle led Huntingdon with three goals, while Marston finished with two goals and an assist. Nary added two goals and Green chipped in one. Josh Knost paced the Hawks with two assists.

The Hawks will look to bounce back on March 14th at William Peace. Gametime is set for 12:00 PM CT.
